Welcome to 13 Tons of Love, a weekly dose of visual joy and reflective meanderings.
It’s a place where I share beauty in forgotten places, like the compost pile,
transformation in relationship to stuff in our lives, like old dresses and t-shirts,
and renewal and joy in relationship to the people and places I love.
It’s all about showing up, one bucket, one stitch and one day at a time.
It’s an antidote to eco-grief and climate anxiety, where I honestly examine things like consumption, privilege and power through the lens of my camera.
Whether in my studio at AVA Gallery, in my garden, or in and around my home and community, I explore micro-climate moments, those small things that the powers at be say don’t matter, but that, in the end, are the essence of our lives.
13 Tons of Love will flow, one week to the next, following the narrative of my life and work and how photography became a voice for my activism.
The coolest part? I’ve been working on climate issues for over two decades, but only when I started using images of compost did I realize the joy and power of transformation and renewal. Doing this work is so fun!
Thank you for being here. I look forward to sharing my adventures with you!
With cheers and gratitude for your presence in this space,
Lyn
