United, Universal, Unabashed
on showing up for what I believe
Hello my friends!
As you know, compost is my jam.
It is a glorious mixing and mingling of colors and textures that offer visual beauty and metaphorical inspiration about what it means to be human.
There is universality to compost. As long as we eat, we will all have biodegradable waste.
And there is unity. While the bright yellow of a particular lemon rind or the red skin of a vibrant pomegranate might call attention to itself, it will not decompose efficiently without the help of a mixing and mingling of carbon, nitrogen, oxygen and water.
In the compost pile, everything is essential in the magical transformation of becoming soil.
Given this passion of mine, you won’t be surprised, I hope, to learn that this coming Sunday, June 8, I will join the North Chapel Unitarian Universalist community in Woodstock, VT.
What more could I ask for?
Unitarian: Believing in the ‘oneness’ of an un-gendered god.
Universalist: Believing that because god is entirely loving and just, every human soul will ultimately be redeemed and saved.
North Chapel: A congregation in Woodstock, Vermont that nurtures the growth and supports the needs of its members, sustains a strong spiritual life within a loving community, and seeks to have a positive impact on the world around us.
These are my people, where each individual brings a unique collection of experiences and insights and find strength in diversity — Just like in a vibrant compost pile. How cool is that?
Smelly challenges are as valued as colorful joys. There is music, conversation, reflection and laughter. This is good medicine in a troubled world.
If you would like a piece of this glorious energy in your life, consider purchasing one of the photographs in this post.1 During this summer, I will donate 25% of each sale to North Chapel.
Like Lilly, I’ve been waiting, patiently…
for the right moment to jump in and unabashedly show up for what I believe in, not just in my art and in the garden, but in my life as well.
With gratitude for you being you,
Lyn
