For the Love of Layers
a conversation with Air - Water - Earth - Fire
Dear Good Reader,
Layers. I see them everywhere.
Salt covers pavement.
Blue water, translucent, rises as blue-green water rushes through ice.

Hot or cold, she is alive,
still and in motion, she is layered.

From sea to shining sea,
the air we breathe is the same,
and the water that nourishes us, the same.

Along the way, the angles, complex and nuanced,

earth - sea - sky in conversation, making sense of each other.
We bear witness because these layers are not “other”…They are us…

multi-textured and colored, seeking coherence in the midst of difference.
Earth - Sea - Sky…and Fire. She is alive. We are alive.

Called to pay attention and wonder and be still in the midst of all that moves.
I ground myself with shades of gray when colors are intense.
It’s not delusion, just a choice.

The elements converge. Your exhale is my inhale.

Lilly looks me in the eye — a challenge from one who loves.
It’s cold. There’s an edge. But let’s play.
With gratitude for you being you,
Lyn
What is it about orange this week? Must be the season for citrus and root vegetables! Aren’t the colors of us beautiful?
PS: Speaking of color and layers — of compost, earth and self — I’m so grateful for the mixing and mingling of ideas that I experience every day. Whether during weekly gatherings with the Kinship Photography Collective (Wednesday evenings, 7 - 8:30 pm EST) or when in collaboration with a team of women helping me redesign my web-page (thank you Hydrate Marketing…who knew I’d be a brand?), I am inspired and motivated to keep evolving, just as the earth has done for millennia. Such a gift.
Thank you all for being part of the process.
If 13 Tons of Love means something to you, please share with others as we slowly grow our collective, multi-layered compost pile.
